Travel news reveals that Viking has restarted its operation in Nordic countries with its hugely successful “Welcome Back” voyages.
Today Viking announced it has hit its latest target as guests were welcomed on board in Iceland. This weekend enthusiastic guests boarded the award-winning Viking Sky® in Reykjavík. This summer it, along with its with sister ship, Viking Jupiter, will be based here.
Viking is Making Waves in Iceland
Both ships are scheduled to sail the brand new itinerary, Iceland’s Natural Beauty. The sailings will take place until early September and are offered as part of Viking’s Welcome Back collection.
The select collection is only available for vaccinated guests. The current sailing is the first of 19 sailings from Reykjavík and includes the ports of Akureyri, Seydisfjördur, Heimaey and more before returning to the capital city.
Torstein Hagen is the Chairman of Viking and he stated, “On behalf of the entire Viking family of guests and crew, we are delighted to be back in Iceland—and we thank the government for its support as we continue restarting operations.”
He went on to add, “This stunning island of fire and ice inspired the original Vikings when they charted new territory, so it especially fitting as a key destination in our ‘Welcome Back’ collection. We look forward to introducing even more guests to this beautiful Nordic country over the summer.”
Viking Is Operating From Iceland
Viking restarted its operations in May. At that time it began voyages in England with British guests and they have received an almost 100 percent positive guest approval feedback with exceptionally high ratings.
Then in June the company welcomed American guests back on board in Bermuda. In July Viking will next launch Welcome Back sailings in the Mediterranean with three ocean ships homeported in Valletta, Malta. This represents the restart of its European river operations with certain itineraries in Portugal, France and along the Rhine.
Viking Has an Industry Leading Health & Safety Program
As you might imagine, demand is high after a period of global inaction and there is limited space available on 2021 summer sailings. For more information travelers can call Viking (1-855-884-5464) or on their website HERE.
All guests on Viking’s Welcome Back voyages will experience an industry-leading health and safety program grounded in scientific research. A full-scale laboratory is present on every Viking ocean ship and the line has a network of dedicated shoreside labs for processing quick and easy non-invasive saliva PCR tests.
