Viking Ultimate World Cruise - Guinness World Record Attempt - Everything You Need To Know!Viking is looking to set a record for the longest-ever continuous passenger cruise. The cruise line has just embarked on an eight-month trip, which began in London and will end in London and will take guests on stops in Scandinavia, the Caribbean, and destinations throughout South America. The ship will then head to the islands of the South Pacific followed by Australia and Asia before it returns to the Mediterranean and Europe. The cruise liner’s entire day-by-day itinerary that aims to set a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous passenger cruise is listed on the company’s website.

The 930-guest Viking Sun sails from London’s Greenwich Pier on August 31. Circumnavigating the globe, it will hit six continents, 51 countries and 111 ports along the way. And in case you were wondering, yes, the price tag is what you would expect. Fares start at $92,990 per person, which includes business class airfare, meals and a free excursion in each port of call. The voyage will end on May 2, 2020. Reports indicate that 54 passengers have reportedly signed up for the full 245 days.

“(It) is the most extensive itinerary available in the industry, nearly double the length of our previous world cruise itineraries,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking, in a press release.

Most guests will be on board for half the itinerary, with a changeover of passengers in Los Angeles. Guests will stay overnight in 23 cities including Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Luxor in Egypt. And yes, the ship will have the full cruise experience as the guests are expected to eat about 680,000 meals, 5000lb of ice cream, 10,000 bottles of champagne, 20,000lb of coffee, 35,000lb of cheese and 900,000 eggs.

It’s also been noted that some of the greatest manmade wonders of the world are also on the itinerary, with guests having the opportunity to venture inland to Machu Picchu and the ancient city of Angkor Wat. For those who are looking to spend a little time catching up on their rest and relaxation on the ship, there’s good news as The Viking Sun is decked out with sleek Scandinavian interiors, has two swimming pools, a fitness center, two cinemas, a theater, and serene LivNordic spa.

The news of course has generated a lot of buzz with potential travelers online. Some have commented with, “I’m genuinely tempted to take this trip. I have a fear of flying and I’ve been tempted (and can afford to) do a round the world trip by hiring a driver for a year,” along with, “Amazing, what I wouldn’t do to be on there right now.”

Viking Cruises has been designed for the traveler who has an interest in history, art, music, and cuisine. What makes the company so unique is that their ships are small enough to get their guests closer to their destinations with more of an intimate feel. They also give more time at each port and more overnights. What’s more, a lot of travelers love Viking for their clean, sophisticated and Scandinavian-inspired décor. Even though there are always available American classics on board, guests can also dine at each one of their destinations.

Luckily, Viking Cruises has it all. Not only is the company a leader in the travel and cruise industry, but they have also been named the number one ocean cruise line four years in a row.

The excursion was first announced back in May of 2018, Viking is once again setting itself apart from the rest of the cruise industry. Most around the world cruises typically range between 90-120 days long. However, the Viking cruise is 245-days long, offering two exceptionally long segments of 127 and 119 days, respectively.
